What is a biodegradable bag
A biodegradable bag is a type of plastic bag that can be broken down into smaller compounds and eventually decomposed into natural substances such as water, carbon dioxide, and biomass. These bags are typically made from biodegradable polymers derived from plant materials such as starch or cellulose. Compared to traditional plastic bags, biodegradable bags can break down more quickly and have a smaller impact on environmental pollution. Biodegradable bags are often used as a replacement for traditional plastic bags to reduce their impact on the environment.
The materials of degradable plastic packaging bags include:
1. PLA (polylactic acid): It is made of plant starch raw materials, which is biodegradable and can be degraded naturally in the soil.
2. PBAT (polybutylene succinate/butanediol glutarate): made of biodegradable polyester, which can be decomposed by microorganisms to produce carbon dioxide, water and biomass after degradation.
3. PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoate): a polyester substance synthesized by microorganisms through a fermentation process, which has good biodegradability and can be degraded in the natural environment.
4. PCL (Polycaprolactone): Made of fossil fuels such as petroleum, it can be degraded in the natural environment, and its decomposition rate can be accelerated by physical or chemical means.
It should be noted that although these materials have a certain degree of biodegradability, it does not mean that they can be quickly decomposed under all conditions, so the use and disposal of these packaging materials still need to be cautious and scientifically reasonable.
