●What is a food bag
A food bag, also known as food packaging bag, refers to bags that are in direct contact with food, used for packing, containing, storing and transporting food. In foreign trade, it is sometimes called food pouch. It includes two main categories: takeaway carry bags and inner flexible food packaging bags. Materials include plastic, kraft paper, composite film, biodegradable materials, etc. They must meet food contact safety standards.
●Features of food bags
1. Food-grade safety: Non-toxic and odor-free raw materials, compliant with FDA, BRC and national food contact standards, no harmful substance migration.
2. Customizable barrier properties: Oxygen barrier, moisture-proof, light-shielding and aroma retention to slow down oxidation and moisture deterioration and extend shelf life. Aluminum foil versions offer the best barrier while transparent bags have weaker barrier performance.
3. Physical properties: Tear-resistant, puncture-resistant and leak-proof. Freezer-grade bags withstand low temperatures; retort pouches resist high temperatures.
4. Various sealing structures: Heat seal, resealable zipper, tear notch, one-way degassing valve, spout, etc., for repeated opening and closing or freshness preservation.
5. Custom printing: Print logos, ingredients and barcodes. Window design is available to display products.

●Common Types of food bags:
1. Flat pouch (3-side seal bag)
Simple 3-side heat seal, flat without gusset. Suitable for seasonings, samples, candies and tea bags. Low cost.
2. Stand-up pouch (SUP)
With bottom gusset, able to stand for display. Most come with zippers. Commonly used for snacks, nuts, pet food and freeze-dried food.
3. Flat bottom bag
Square flat bottom, better stability and stiffness than stand-up pouches, neat for stacking. Ideal for coffee, tea and premium snacks.
4. Side gusset bag
Expandable gussets on both sides for larger capacity. For rice, flour, coffee beans and grains. Many are equipped with one-way degassing valves (valve bag).
5. Vacuum bag
PA/NY + PE composite, puncture resistant. For vacuum packing meat, seafood and cooked food to isolate air for fresh keeping.
6. Retort pouch
Resist high temperature sterilization at 121℃, available in aluminum foil or clear retort film. Used for braised food, ready meals for ambient storage.
7. Aluminum foil bag
With aluminum foil layer, fully light-proof and ultra-high barrier. For powder, health supplements and essence requiring light protection.
8. Spout pouch
Fitted with spout and screw cap. For sauces, fruit juice and puree. Leak-proof and easy to pour.
9. Paper food bag
Kraft paper (some with PE coating for oil and water resistance). For bread, sandwiches, takeaway and bakery packaging.
10. Resealable zipper bag
With composite zipper for repeated opening. For snack repacking, pet food and dry goods.
