types of coffee bags

Even the highest quality beans won't last long without the right coffee packaging. Delicate beans quickly lose flavor, and deeply roasted beans lose the richness and depth for which they are known.

So, what are the types of coffee bags?

There are four common types of packaging for coffee bags:

1, non-air-tight coffee packaging bag: This is the most economical kind of packaging. It is usually used by small local bakeries because they can guarantee a quick supply. Coffee beans can be consumed in time. Beans stored in this way will only last a short time. The bag is filled with air, and of course the bag or container is airtight. The packaging simply protects the beans from moisture, flavor loss, and sunlight. However, due to prolonged exposure to the air in the bag or container, the beans are oxidized severely, resulting in a shorter tasting period.

2. Air-tight packaging: After filling the coffee, vacuum and seal it. Due to the formation of carbon dioxide during the roasting process, the packaging can only be done after the coffee has been left for a while to degassed, thus allowing several days of storage space. Coffee beans sit longer than ground coffee. Low cost as it does not need to be separated from air during storage. Coffee in this packaging should be used up within 10 weeks.

3. Vacuum packaging: There are two conditions for the production of vacuum packaging: 1. Vacuum the air. 2. A flexible and soft material. Of course, this technique can also be applied to some hard materials, but it is common to use soft materials to make it a hard product, like a "brick". This packaging will allow the coffee to fit tightly to the packaging material, but only if the beans are completely vented, otherwise they will become soft and bloated due to the coffee beans' own venting. That's why most of the "bricks" you see in supermarkets are ground coffee, not beans.

4. Pressurized packing: This is the most expensive way, but it will keep the coffee for up to two years. After roasting for a few minutes, coffee can be vacuum-packed. After adding some inert gas, maintain proper pressure inside the package. Coffee beans are stored under pressure, allowing the aroma to flow onto the fat, thus improving the flavor of the drink. Such packaging is usually used on water-cooled coffee beans, which have a shorter shelf life and a poorer flavor. If the container is packed in a hard material, there is a pressure difference between the coffee beans and the can after vacuuming. The gas released by coffee beans will saturate the whole environment, thus inhibiting the volatilization of aroma. In general, the vacuum of hard materials is not as thorough as that of soft materials.
