The woman behind K-Sass Glass is Kristina Sasser, who discovered the medium of glass in 1999 and, ever since, has imbued this ancient art with her own interpretation of spirituality, beauty and organic nature.
K-Sass started making clay pipes in high school, but the evolution of her signature “headdy” functional pieces has evolved over two decades. A mystic, artistic soul, she studied fine arts in college, majoring in ceramics, but insists her inspiration also springs from years as a practicing yogi. “My pieces are spiritually charged,” she says. “I incorporate chakra symbolism, sacred geometry, precious gems, metals and energetically charged meteorite specimens into my art.”
Plant medicines, native ceremonies, flowers, feathers, galactic space and the otherworld are frequent themes of her art that ranges from jewelry to large-scale installations. K-Sass is also a philanthropist and served as director of The Colorado Project for five years, a non-profit, collaborative effort of glass artists to raise funds for charitable causes in the community through events and collaboration on glass art. She makes her home on the gorgeous front range of Colorado and is founder of Star Seed Studios in Boulder.
